Guest Post: Workspace Wednesdays
A first for Chic Habitat - a guest blogger! Today's post comes from Susi, a writer at Arcadian Lighting, a fantastic online resources for lighting fixtures and accessories. As my inaugural guest blogger, Susi has truly exceeded my expectations, including oodles of inspiration and ideas for us to devour!
Hi, I'm Susi and typically I write for Arcadian Lighting about design and décor ideas. I'm always happy to guest blog at amazing design blogs like Chic Habitat Interiors. For my guest edition of Workspace Wednesdays I'm showcasing glamorous workspaces and home offices. Who doesn't love to go glam? And a workspace definitely needs some glamour to help us get through our work. Going glam is fun with wall color, lighting fixtures, mirrored surfaces and lots of shiny objects. Enjoy!
A mix of antique and contemporary styles works well in this chic workspace. The gorgeous drum pendant's swirling lines echo the antique desk's ornate base. A gorgeous abstract painting adds color to the deeply hued paneled walls.
I love the dramatic black walls in this glam workspace. The glossy finish reflects light like patent leather--beautiful.
A chic Lucite chair and a soft palette make this workspace feel decidedly glamorous. A pale palette of cream, gold and silver makes the warm wood of the antique desk pop.
This chic built-in conceals a workspace behind creamy yellow panels. Coordinated accessories and storage give the workspace a stylish glamour. This room has a little fun with lamps, one cool floor lamp and a much smaller look-alike on the desk.
Like a little black dress with the perfect gold accessories, this glamorous workspace is a contrast between light and dark. The brass bookcases shine against the black wallpaper.
This glam home office is the work of Suzanne Kasler. I love the rich feeling of layered neutrals
and gorgeous furnishings.
Black and white glam reminds me of Coco Chanel. Layers of patterns are so stylish in this glam home office workspace. When mixing patterns, pay attention to scale and choose different size patterns and a few solids for a stylish mix.
Beautiful sheers, a mirrored desk and a dream workspace light fixture add glamour to Khloe Kardashian's office. The mix of deep and pale shades of this neutral palette is the perfect canvas for lots of lovely shiny objects.
Working in an office like this would definitely make Friday come sooner than you think! Why not try adding some glam pendant lights, light fixtures, or wall sconces to your office? If you fancied these work spaces and are craving more design inspirations, drop by Arcadian Lighting Blog to explore more design ideas!
Thanks, Susi, for such a beautiful and inspirational post! I'm smitten over all of the lighting featured - which one is your favorite?!

Thursday's Things
I know it's not even October yet, but Snow & Graham has just come out with their 2012 wall calendar, and I think it's their best one yet. For $30 you get 12 gorgeously designed months...beautiful enough to frame. Talk about cheap art! I couldn't help myself, I had to purchase...and I may just frame every single one before 2011 is finished!

Workspace Wednesdays
Perusing on of my favorite blogs, I came across the fantastic studio of Suzanne Kasler. So much storage! Such great sunlight! I love spaces like this, and believe I am more productive when I have room to breathe, natural light, and great organization. What do you need in a workspace?

Thursday's Things
If I had an extra $5,500 lying around, I would totally purchase this sofa. I even have a great spot for it picked out in our apartment, right under the window in our office!

Before & After: Kitchen Remodel
So my parent's remodel is finally finished! If you remember from my Kitchen Inspiration post in March, my parents recently moved out of their home of 25 years. Presented with the challenge of updating the kitchen quickly, within budget, I think we did a pretty good job. See for yourselves:
After...
Before...
p.s. My parents were in the process of packing, so the kitchen looks much messier than usual! Makes for quite a dramatic effect, though, right? ;)

Jim Thompson fabrics are too fabulous for words, and I am loving the new line - Opus - it's fifth collection by British designer, Richard Smith. I guess it's no surprise that I love bright colors...but these are completely over the top awesome, and so perfect for summer!

Bedroom Bliss
I love a good guest room furnished with double twin beds. It lends itself to symmetry and a chance to create a focal point. This room does both really well, and I love how the art is centered on the lamp rather than the beds, creating an unexpected yet balanced result.

TGIFoyers!
A new segment on my blog...welcome to TGIFoyers! You may not know it yet, but I am obsessed with a great foyer, and hope to never live in a home that has not carved out a landing pad to greet guests warmly, shake off the rain, hang your hat, display great artwork, and transition from the outside in. Below is one of my all time favorite foyers... so perfect, it needs no explanation.
